Each path represents a journey into legend, and each tier in that path grants abilities and features related to that pursuit. The first 2 mythic levels will be default placed in the “Mythic hero” class. Once you reach mythic level 3, the path options become available. Sage sorcerer and lich has been the most fun combo I’ve done for now. Honestly any melee and Demon feels fantastic, I know technically it's in the bottom tier for paths. But thematically I love it. Some classes are great but you're forced to spend 5 minutes of buffing before every encounter, whereas other classes have 0 abilities but perform poorly in harder difficulties. I can't really offer any insight beyond any of the classes should work just fine. My decision is ultimately going to come down to a few factors. As for damage, I don't think you'd lose too much if you went Sylvan sorcerer. Rather, what you'd probably miss out on is a few defenses (mainly resists) and a slightly wider spell selection. You want spontaneous casters for the merged list ideally since it adds a ton of spells which covers your main weakness. And since lich/angel have the best spells for blasting you can focus on taking utility spells from your class without falling behind. Classes are broadly defined specializations of a character.
